According to a Chadrei Chadarim report, Kiryat Sefer Mayor Yaakov Guterman is in line to become the next general-manager of Chinuch Atzmai following the petira of Rav Meir Luria  Z”L this past Friday.

Meetings took place on Wednesday involving Rav Elyashiv Shlita and Rav Shteinman Shlita, during which it was decided that an interim manager will run the organization and the interim leader will bring the proposal for the new leader to the Gedolei HaDor for approval.

The names were mentioned from the Litvish camp, Rav Yosef Efrati, Rav Aryeh Dvir and Mordechai (Mottela) Karelitz. Three names submitted from the Gur camp are MK Yaakov Litzman, Chanoch Zeibert, and MK Meir Porush.

After some of the names were discussed, some were eliminated and when Guterman was mentioned, following a short consultation, Gur officials stated he is suitable and if his name is placed to a vote, they would support his candidacy. Colleagues of Guterman stated if offered the post, he would not decline.
