Following his return from Germany, Ofir Dekel on Wednesday summoned the families of Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev to the Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv. Dekel explained that a deal with Hizbullah is imminent, a deal that will bring their sons home. He called upon the family members to refrain from making any statements to the media, explaining any press may prompt Hizbullah to cancel the deal.

The family members left the Defense Ministry via side entrances to avoid the media, and Dekel himself has refrained from making any statements as well.

In a meeting with family representatives on Tuesday night, Defense Minister Ehud Barak told them that in all likelihood, the two are no longer alive.
