Bennett: “Masks Instead Of Limits, Vaccines Instead Of Lockdowns”

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is urging Israel’s teenagers to get vaccinated amid an increase in coronavirus cases due to an outbreak of the Delta variant.

“I’m appealing directly to teenagers,” Bennett said at a cabinet meeting on Sunday.  “We don’t want to impose any restrictions, not on parties, trips or on anything. But precisely because of this, if you don’t want restrictions, go get vaccinated today. Talk to your parents and get vaccinated.”

“Masks instead of restrictions, vaccines instead of lockdowns,” the prime minister added.

Tel Aviv, Kfar Saba, and Hertzliya were designated as yellow zones over the weekend. Binyamina, a town in the north, is still designated as a red zone, and Modiin and Kochav Yair are still orange zones.

Bennett also announced that IDF Maj.-Gen. (res.) Roni Numa has been selected to serve as a special coronavirus airport commissioner to thwart the continued spread of the Delta variant and the entry of future variants from around the world into Israel.

Many of the new coronavirus cases reported in the past week were traced to individuals who had arrived from abroad. Over the weekend, 34 Israelis who returned from abroad tested positive for the coronavirus, including nine from Russia. The rest of the coronavirus carriers had returned from Turkey, Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, the United States, and Cyprus.

  1. What happens with each new variant. Will it be endless vaccinations ? Are we going to continue to be Guinea pigs ? Why are they encouraging our youth to get shots if the CDC themselves are saying there are serious side effects for young men. It’s all about the Benjamins

  2. All we hear from the CDC, NIH, etc. is that the vaccines currently available cover the new varients. why don’t we hear anything about if the ability of natural-born immunity (i.e. what almost anyone who contracted Covid-19 acquired) to fight off the new varients.
We also only hear about the randomly picked and always rising number of vaccinated people to achieve herd immunity. Why don’t we ever include the number of people who have acquired natural immunity. When those individuals are included, there is no doubt herd immunity has been reached. No, that does not mean nobodyelse will ever contract Covid-19, but it most certinly means we can return to pre-pandemic life.

  3. Half a truth:
“Many of the new coronavirus cases reported in the past week were traced to individuals who had arrived from abroad.”
    And many were not.

The more interesting point is that we are not hearing that anyone who already had Covid (with anti-bodies to prove it) are getting reinfected. Meaning having had Covid is more effective than the vaccine.

  4. @stop the madness
it could be that what you are saying would be somewhat true if Bennett was saying that everyone has to REtake the vaccine. but, alas, he did not. what he did do was merely asking teenagers who are largely unvaccinated to please take the vaccine, as they have not already been vaccinated.
