Almost 50% Of Gaza Fatalities Were Terrorists

At least 48% of Gazans killed during Operation Guardian of the Walls were members of terrorist organizations, according to a report released by the Meir Amit Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center on Tuesday.

The report said that 112 of the 234 fatalities were tied to Hamas, Islamic Jihad or other terrorist groups, with 63 tied to Hamas, 20 to Islamic Jihad, 25 to a Fatah-associated terrorist wing and several others to small splinter terror groups.

Another 11 male fatalities between the ages of 17 and 40 are also suspected to have ties to terrorist groups in light of the circumstances of their deaths but the think tank was unable to find conclusive proof.

The report added that many of the women and children who were killed were family members of terrorists. Others died due to their close proximity to terrorist locations that were targeted during the operation.

The report bolstered its findings by quoting an interview with Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar earlier this month in which he admitted that Hamas places its militants and weapons in civilian areas.

Furthermore, 21 Gazans died from rockets fired by Gazan terror groups which landed inside the Strip.

  1. I don’t know if this figure is intended to to be impressive, but if more than half of the victims were civilians, that’s nothing to brag about.

  2. That means that over 50% were bystanders. Once upon a time, it was considered barbaric if the military killed non-combatants (World War II wiped out that idea). It is an interesting halachic question as to under what conditions may one kill civilians (absent a Navi or the Urim u-Teumim giving permission). The zionists consider themselves to be saints since they phone up civilians to warn them, though we should remember that the goal of zionism was always to lower Jews to the level of the nations, and killing civilians is among the customs of the nations we are emulating and by the standards of the nations, blowing up an apartment building since there are enemy soldiers nearby is acceptable behavior.

  3. No, lunch, it’s a very high number. 10% is a good result. At least 48% and probably higher is a very very good result. Especially when you deduct the ones killed by their own side, who should not be in the count at all. And that is all assuming we can actually trust the total death numbers, which we can’t; we have no real idea how many people died, and how many of those died of natural causes or local crimes, and are completely unrelated to the fighting. If someone died of cancer that week, or was killed in a robbery or a car crash, what exactly is to stop Hamas from claiming they died in an Israeli attack?

  4. > lunch

48% is the minimum that they can document as members of terrorist groups. You are talking as if the other 52% are definitely not terrorist (instead of just being uncertain).
