Israel: Suspects in Custody in Sussia Area Attack

Police on Monday night arrested two Sussia residents in connection with the Shabbos June 14 attack in which a number of Arab residents were beaten near the Chevron Hills community. One of the victims, a female in her 60s, was seriously injured.

According to police, one of the suspects is a juvenile, adding they were questioned on Tuesday. A Beersheva court sentenced them to three days house arrest, rejecting a police request that they be held in incarceration for an additional eight days.

According to police, members of the Nawage family, the victims of the alleged assault, have film footage to document their allegations. Police have signaled that additional arrests are expected in the case as the investigation continues.

According to the allegations, Jews attacked the family members on Shabbos while they were tending to their sheep and goats. They insist the attack was unprovoked.
