Western Negev residents have had their share of the government, particularly Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, who on Monday in a Knesset address had harsh words for residents of the Greater Sderot Area.

While meeting with southern community leaders on Tuesday, Vilnai received a letter of dismissal from local resident Ofir Schmerling, who cited “due to your inability to fulfill the duties of your post, we inform you that your services are no longer welcome.”

The letter went on to criticize Vilnai for his statements in Knesset, calling the area residents cowards. Schmerling concluded that Vilnai has abandoned southern area residents whom have been under rocket fire for years.
