Australian Chabad tycoon Yosef Gutnick, who in recent years has politically supported Yamina No. 2 Ayelet Shaked, saying that he sees her as the successor of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, wrote an open letter to her that was published in Yisrael Hayom on Monday.
“You and I know each other for many years,” Gutnick wrote. “I always strongly supported you, for your loyal adherence to the values we share – a strong and uncompromising right-wing government – to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state and not to allow portions of Eretz Yisrael to be given away.”
“Right-wing voters believed and trusted you, but now their votes are being stolen by you and other MKs by joining a government with partners you promised in the past not to sit with under any circumstances.”
“We recognize the right of others to think differently from us but most voters in the last election voted for a right-wing government. The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rav Menachem Mendel Schneerson, always opposed any compromise on the Land of Israel, demanded our commitment to the sheleimus of our Eretz HaKodesh, and warned that such a government is dangerous to the residents of Israel and the Jewish people throughout the world.”
“You always expressed great respect for the Rebbe. What changed? Why not go to another election so that your voters don’t feel cheated and can express whether or not they agree with your actions and those of your colleagues? Isn’t that the honest and democratic approach? What are you afraid of?
“Don’t be influenced by those who strive for power at all costs,” Gutnick asserted, in an apparent reference to Naftali Bennett. “In the name of everyone who trusts in you, please don’t take part in this so-called ‘government of change.’ Prevent this disaster, for the sake of the kavod and sheleimus of the Torah, Am Yisrael, and Eretz Yisrael. This is the hour of truth for you and your colleagues, to be sincere and honest representatives.”

I don’t get it – is Yosef Gutnick still wealthy? or once a tycoon always a tycoon, even after bankruptcy?
I’m not Chabad but I could totally hear chabadniks being offended by the title of this article. It’s could definitely be misconstrued as divisive. And whether it is or isn’t, that’s not what klal Yisroel needs right now.
The story of On ben Peles in this weeks parsha is so appropriate. In the beginning of this weeks Parsha we see that one of the big instigators with Korach was On ben Peles. His wife reasoned that if Korach ends up victorious Korach gets all the glory and On not so much. However if Moshe ends up victorious then Korach and all of his group would pay the price. So she prevented On from going to the confrontation with Moshe and saved his life. How appropriate if this message would reach the other members of the Yamina party. When this coalition ultimately fails the whole Yamina party will pay the price. The glory if they are successful will only go to Bennett.
NoGutnick is a self promoting loser in which history has proven.
Regardless of the message, he should have an inkling of self awareness, and lay low.

..And I’m very proud of all the millennials who all this time stuck to this basic understanding, acknowledged it, were cautious, and warned against it. I’m proud of the wise, sensitive Right, which grasped from the first that the battle was for it and its soul, not over Netanyahu and Balfour. I’m proud of the Likudniks, most of the religious Zionists, and the Haredi parties. I’m proud of everyone who understood what was happening. And all the rest? It’s not that they’re stupid, heaven forbid. Who am I to talk that way?
@Moishe Ooffnik – I am Chabad and I certainly am far from offended. It’s not divisive, unlike the actions of Bennett, Shaked etc. And Klal Yisrael DOES need clarity, honesty and bluntness right now.
