Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) reported on Friday that Israel Prison Authority intelligence officials knew of the planned assassination of underworld attorney Yoram Chacham, 53, which was carried out in a car bomb attack earlier in the week. The information was in prison authority hands some two months prior to the attack.

According to the report, due to “human error” the intelligence data never was passed on to Israel Police.

Israel Police and prison authority officials refused comment on the report. A gag order on the investigation prohibits publicizing most of the details surrounding the ongoing police investigation.
