Histadrut National Labor Federation Chairman Ofir Eini on Wednesday threatened to shut the nation’s workforce down if the treasury does not reverse plans to implement tax reforms, cutting the tax burden on workers.
The objection to what appears to be a welcomed move surrounds the reality that the funds lost in tax revenue would be recouped by the Finance Ministry by levying a tax on savings plans of workers; a move that Eini stated is a non-starter.
Eini on Thursday plans to declare a “work dispute,” which in essence begins the countdown timer permitting a nationwide strike after a two-week hiatus period.
