Man Who Attacked Surgeon May Face Attempted Murder Charges

The man who some two weeks ago attacked Kaplan Hospital surgeon Dr. Morris Guy will most likely face charges of attempted murder.

The surgeon was stabbed six times with a screwdriver and while he is now in moderate condition, it is highly unlikely that he will ever be able to return to performing surgery due to the injuries sustained in the attack.

64-year-old Eren Shamilov, a resident of Rechovot, attacked the doctor after the two got into a dispute regarding Shamilov’s scheduled surgical procedure. Police report that Shamilov came to the hospital with the premeditated plan to stab the doctor.

At present, Guy remains in a trauma recovery unity of Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer Hospital. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)
