As part of its efforts to encourage its residents to vaccinate, the Bnei Brak municipality last week advertised that its vaccination center will be open to midnight on Thursday and anyone who comes to be inoculated will receive a bag with a portion of cholent, a roll and a bottle of Coke.
It’s questionable whether anyone who doesn’t wish to be vaccinated would agree to do for a bag of food they could buy themselves but one organization didn’t remain apathetic to the offer.
The ZAKA organization, one that has been unfortunately overloaded with work during the pandemic, with its director recently losing three immediate relatives to COVID-19, couldn’t resist the opportunity for a bit of black humor.
“We were happy to hear about the Bnei Brak’s municipality’s initiative to distribute bags of cholent to those who are vaccinated,” the organization wrote on social media.
“We’ve already been distributing bags to those who haven’t been vaccinated for a year now. Run to vaccinate!”

Industrially-processed foods like this: white-sugar laden soft drinks; ‘flour which has been sifted so fine that it no longer has any substance of bran’ (see Rambam, Mishnah Torah, Hilchos Da’os, mishna 10); and even cholent–if prepared with industrial oils (rather than cold-pressed), non-organic, non-pasture raised meat, or with beans insufficiently pre-soaked (and also should organically grown–without carcinogenically-linked chemical fertilizers or pesticides)–these are actually culprits to lowering overall bodily immunity not only to cv, but to other illnesses as well. For shame.

@lastword those are some pretty strong opinions to expect everyone stand by.
I am all for eating healthy, and if you can afford it, waiting organic. However, with the population growth across the globe in the last century, if you don’t provide this commercial food to the masses you will have mass starvation.
So while perhaps with proper diet life expectancy would go up to 90+, but if everyone would exclusively eat healthy, average life expectancy would go down significantly due to mass starvation.
Of course, the roll is full-grain, the oils are organic, with pasture raised meat, and it goes without saying that the beans were sufficiently soaked. Shame on you for being Don l’Kaf Choiva!
BTW, people have been consuming these, and other, more ‘deadly’ food, and the mortality rate has just been rising and rising…. COVID has killed over 2,000,000 (including thousands of Yidden, r’l) in just one year, including young mothers etc. Go figure!
