Several hundreds Israelis identified with the left-wing protested in Tel Aviv on Shabbos against Israel’s ongoing occupation of another people, as well as the ongoing rocket attacks in Gaza.
Calling for an end to the Israeli embargo on Gaza, participants in the event marked 41 years of “Israeli occupation,” stating “children in Gaza and Sderot wish to live in peace”.
They did not hesitate to draw an analogy between innocent victims in the Greater Sderot Area and Gaza, where Israeli forces operate under life-threatening danger against terrorists.
MK (Hadash) Dov Khenin, who took part in the event, warned of two wars, a smaller war in Gaza as well as a major one with Iran. The left-wing lawmaker explained that Israel can negotiate peace treaties and prisoner exchange deals are doable, including with the PA and with Syria. He did not mention however how Israel can negotiate an agreement with Iran.
“Only peace will cease the fire” read the large banner the small number of participants carried, calling for dialogue with Israel’s enemies and an immediate opening of crossings into Gaza and Israel ending its “occupation,” referring to the Jewish presence throughout Yehuda and Shomron.
