HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Scheiner, z’tl, Rosh Yeshivas Kaminetz and member of Degel HaTorah’s Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah, was niftar of the coronavirus on Sunday at the age of 98.
The bitter news of the Rosh Yeshivah’s petirah came amid the levaya for the Brisker Rosh Yeshivah, Hagaon HaRav Meshulam Dovid Halevi Soloveitchik, z’tl, making it a particularly mournful day for Klal Yisrael and the Torah world.
The Rosh Yeshivah contracted the coronavirus a week ago, 17 days after he received the first dose of the vaccine, and was being treated at home.
On Sunday morning he suffered a deterioration in his condition and was evacuated to the hospital due to breathing difficulties.
Soon after arriving at the hospital, he suffered a further deterioration in his condition and the doctors performed resuscitation techniques. Unfortunately, he was niftar several hours later.
The entire yeshivah world, and Yeshivas Kaminetz in particular, was engulfed in mourning upon hearing the bitter news and the paroches was removed from the heichal of the yeshivah.

HaRav Scheiner, z’tl, was born in New York to parents who fled Poland several years prior to the Holocaust. The Rosh Yeshivah, z’tl, learned as a teenager in Yeshivas Rabbeinu Yitzchak Elchanan and then continued to the yeshivah of Hagaon HaRav Shlomo Heiman, Torah V’Daas.
HaRav Yitzchak married the grandaughter of HaGaon HaRav Boruch Ber Leibowitz, z’tl, Rosh Yeshivas Kaminetz in Europe prior to the Holocaust, the daughter of HaGaon HaRav Moshe Bernstein, Rosh Yeshivas Kaminetz, who reestablished the yeshivah in Yerushalayim.
In the 60s, HaRav Scheiner moved to Switzerland to serve as the Rosh Yeshivah of Montreux.
Following HaRav Bernstein’s death, HaRav Scheiner succeeded him as Rosh Yeshivas Kaminetz, initially serving alongside his brother-in-law HaGaon HaRav Asher Lichenstein, zt’l, and his cousin HaGaon HaRav Shlomo Leibowitz, z’tl.

I remember davening for him as Yitzchak Arye, don’t remember his mother’s name. Could someone clarify the full name. A wonderful kind person. We should hear only simchas.
Somehow the writer forgot to mention that Rav Scheiner ztl went to public school in Pittsburgh, PA and was on track to go to secular college prior to enrolling in Yeshiva University/RIETS and falling in love with learning, something I heard from the Rosh Yeshiva himself.
From covid or from the vaccine?
Another one in a million… He took the vaccine 17 days ago! Miraculously he did not get cold until out, confidently he gets covid-19 passes away right after the vaccine!

Fascinating to see how people are oblivious to the fact. The Moderna and the Pfizer vaccine both skipped animal trials.
In the past whenever they attempted to be make a vaccine for the common cold or for coronavirus, the animals that were vaccinated, when they were exposed to the virus in the real world they died in huge numbers!
They’ve been trying to do this for 20 years!
The research was always stopped and never moved into human trials!
Now somehow they got authorization to skip animal trials, look around what’s happening!

Joshua45 – if a person only gets the 1st dose of the vaccine they are not yet immune. Additionally, even after the 2nd dose, it takes a couple weeks to achieve immunity. And even then 95% immunity means 1 in 20 people can still get Covid. It is not difficult to look up this information, but it seems you have an agenda.

It is YOU who believe in science over G-d, the rest of us believe in Hashem, and that includes hishtadlus. The Gedolim have sanctioned taking this vaccine as appropriate hishtadlus, so we take it. Maybe it works, maybe it doesn’t. Do I care? No. Hashem can make one die or be healed any way he wants. It is YOU and all deniers that are being oved the avoda zara of science. We are following the will of Hashem.

You also miss the very important point that he was a Gadol and with his Daas Torah made the decision to take the Vaccine.
