Numerous people are finding themselves stranded in Israel, as flights to and from Israel continue to be grounded, due to the strict lockdown.
The government has announced that special flights will leave Israel to Frankfurt, Germany, with the belief that travelers to other locations will be able to travel onward from there. However, as flights from Germany are extremely limited, this is not an ideal option for most US-bound travelers.
Chaim V’Chessed, along with the outstanding Amudim organization, was involved in arrangements for an emergency which departed to JFK airport last night.
UPDATE: We can now report that United Airlines will have flights from Israel to the United States on Saturday and Sunday nights, January 30-31. Delta Airlines will HOPEFULLY operate a flight on Monday night.
At this point, there is no information regarding special flights from the USA to Israel. Apparently, the authorities are waiting to see if the the lockdown is extended. If it is, there will hopefully be emergency flights from the USA, to return Israeli residents home form America.
Bear in mind that, officially, travel from Israel at this time is restricted. If traveling for a funeral, medical procedure, or legal proceeding, one must fill out this affidavit. If traveling for any other reason, one must obtain special permission, via this application. We can share that until this time, there has not been enforcement of this requirement.

No, Israeli life saving measures, not foolish bureaucracy. Hopefully now that a haredi organization has published the fact that the rules about leaving Israel are not being enforced, a real iron curtain will come down. This is what happened when a haredi website wrote about the open border with Jordan and possibility of flying in and out of Amman and relying on a Jordanian taxi to get between the border and the airport. B”H that loophole has now been closed off.

This is a pandemic killing people.
By moving people while a government stay at hole order is in effect you are aiding and abetting the spread of dangerous viral mutations between countries.
These special flights are not an act of chested but rather a dangerous gambit putting the lives of people around the world at great risk. better to tell your readers to stay at home , practice social distancing, wear masks and get vaccinated.
