A Palestinian man who lives in Shechem (Nablus), arrived at the Qalandia checkpoint in Jerusalem on Tuesday evening and attempted to stab some of the security forces at the checkpoint with a screwdriver. Security personnel at the checkpoint apprehended the man and subdues him. No injuries were reported in the incident.
According to a statement by a spokesperson from the Border Police Unit, the man, who was identified as a 51-year-old Nablus resident, tried to cross into Israel at the Qalandia Checkpoint without the appropriate work permits. When security forces at the scene prevented his entry, the suspect began to act wildly and pulled out a screwdriver. According to the statement, he attempted to stab one of the guards with it.
Security personnel at the scene were able to “neutralize” the suspect without opening fire and took him into custody for interrogation. There were no casualties in the incident.
