Defense Minister Ehud Barak stated that Syria appears to continue supplying Hizbullah with arms despite ongoing contacts with Israel. He made his remarks during a tour of the northern border earlier in the week.

The senior minister stated that intelligence reports show that Syria continues to supply the terror organization with long-range rockets, as well as an array of weapons and ammunition. Barak called the relationship between Damascus and Hizbullah “intimate”, adding senior defense officials hoped that at least while Israel and Syria are taking a first step towards normalized relations, Damascus would conduct itself differently.
