Hagaon HaRav Baruch Mordechai Ezrachi, Rosh Yeshivas Ateres Yisrael and member of the Degel Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah, has recently discovered the wonders of modern technology, which allows him to deliver shiurim to the bochurim without endangering his health.
“I can’t see you but I understand from the machine here that you can see me, b’ezras Hashem Yisbrach,” HaRav Ezrachi said to the bochurim prior to delivering a shiur via teleconference.
“I think there’s also a machine that allows each party to see each other. Zoom! “GAM ZOOM L’TOVA!” (Zoom is also for the good!”) Rav Ezrachi concluded.
HaRav Ezrachi, 92, recently recovered from the coronavirus.

It’s good his opinion agrees with ywn, the nayis would be if you would quote all the Roshei Yeshiva shlita that are opposed to its use, and opposed to your view and world view
THE HEADLINE OF THIS ARTICLE IS DECEIVING AND IMPLIES THAT THE RAV GAVE HIS WHOLE HEARTED HASKOMA TO ZOOM AND ACCESSING THE INTERNET ON A DAILY BASIS COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY MISLEADING MAYBE THE RAV WAS SAYING GAM ZOOM LTOVA ,AS IF TO SAY EVEN THOUGH INTERNET IS NOT A GOOD THING AND ZOOM SHOULD NOT BE USED AT ALL BUT STILL ITS GAM ZU LTOVA THAT FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS I NEED TO SAY SHUIR ON ZOOM. YOUR 100 PERCENT WRONG AND IT IS A BIG AVEIRA TO TWIST A TALMID CHACHAMS WORDS IN FRONT OF AN AUDIENCE OF SO MANY PEOPLE SHAME ON YOU
R’ Ezrachi may not realize it, but he just “kashered” use of the internet.
Zoom – and the internet in general – is a tool that can be used for both good and evil. Our nisayon is to use it only for good. To reject it totally is no longer feasible…
an Israeli Yid
Torah is compared to fire and water both are good and bad, burn or drown, similar to Internet Tzadikim Yelchu bam Uposhim Yekoshlu bam.
Everybody here is on the internet.
@silentmoishe
1. “gam zu letovah” is something you say after the fact when something bad has happened but we trust it’s for the best. It’s a tragedy that many of us have to rely on Zoom, not an ideal
2. Giving a hechsher to zoom (theoretically) is not kashering the entire internet. The is virtually no-one from the most chareidi who do not make use of email even though this too uses the internet. The concern is that Zoom typically involves web access too, and that is not ideal especially for kids and bochurim/sem girls.
Ash put it well.
There are Kosher Zoom devices that have their own Internet connection and do nothing other than Zoom.
Rav Ezrachi just implied positive element about ONE app on computer so improve remote shiurim
thats all
not whole internet
not even owning a computer at home!
Pardon me for asking: isn’t this gadol a Rizhiner ainekel? What happened to the furs of his shtreimel?
It’s quite possible and most probable that the Rosh Yeshiva has no idea that Zoom works through the internet. It’s irresponsible to ‘sell’ this as some Haskamah (unless you verify that he has an acute knowledge of what it entails).
