The Petach Tikvah Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 4 Cheshvan 5774 extended the remand of Yitzhar resident Boaz Albert for an additional week. Albert was arrested before Simchas Torah for violating an administrative order prohibiting him from being in Yitzhar, and spent yomtov behind bars. Supporters arrived on motzei yomtov for second hakofos.
Justice Naave Bachor heard the prosecution’s request to hold him without bail, while Honenu attorney Adi Kedar called for his immediate release. The court decided on keeping him locked up for an additional week.
Bayit Yehudi Minister of Housing Uri Ariel has visited Albert in prison and he has called for a cessation of the use of administrative orders, explaining if there is evidence of a crime than one should be charged and if evidence does not exist, one should not be incarcerated or restricted by an administrative order.
