Authorities announced on Monday that three Israeli Arabs have been indicted for conspiracy to abduct an IDF soldier and kill him.
The suspects, identified as Amir Nafar, 20, a student at the University of Jordan, Aiman Kadura, 26, and Yassin Hinawi, 19 were arrested during past weeks. They began plotting their kidnap-murder some six months ago. They were in contact with an enemy agent, and met on several occasions in a Lod mosque, being careful never to enter with cellular telephones as to avoid anyone eavesdropping on their plans.
The Israeli Arabs were to abduct a soldier, photograph him alive, and then murder him, while videoing the murder. The photo, his identification cards and army identity tags were to be given to the enemy agent, and the information was to be used as a trump card towards obtaining the release of terrorists from Israeli prisons.
It was pointed out that all the suspects are members of the Israel Islamic Association which is headed by Sheikh Raad Salah.
Nafa and Kadura were indicted in the Petach Tikvah District Court on Monday on numerous counts, including contacting an enemy agent during wartime and conspiracy to commit murder. Hinawi is facing charges of concealing a crime.
During the arraignment, the attorney for the defendants denied the charges, stating the state lacks proof.
