The announcement of construction in many areas of Yerushalayim and Betar Illit has elicited angry remarks from the Peace Now extremist left-wing organization.

In a statement to the media, Peace Now calls the new plans for construction of over 1,000 units “a last nail in the coffin of Annapolis [Conference] understandings,” condemning the government for taking the step in defiance of the international community’s stand on renewed construction in ‘controversial areas’, which are primarily areas of Yerushalayim liberated in the June 1967 Six Day War.
