Yeshivas Or Yisroel located in Petach Tikvah began their Elul Zman in capsules early, and commenced classes on Sunday. The reason for the early beginning of the new Zman was in order to enable all of the Talmidim to arrive in their capsules and be ready to learn from the very beginning of the month of Elul.
According to the original plan, students from Shiur Aleph would begin their year of studies in a campus on Moshav Beit Achiezer, as there is a lack of space in the regular Yeshiva building in Petach Tikvah to accommodate all of the capsules.
The students who arrived at the campus on the Moshav, were required to take a COVID-19 test and to not remove their masks until their results were received.
Today, when the results came back, it was revealed that one of the talmidim tested positive for having contracted the virus.
The staff of the Yeshiva, who had prepared in advance for such an eventuality, removed the boy from his capsule and brought him to a specially prepared dormitory for students who have contacted the virus that is part of the Petach Tikvah campus.
The staff is working with the Health Ministry to determine who among the rest of the capsule needs to go into isolation.

And nobody was actually sick. COVID has mutated to be far less dangerous than it was last year. Just stop the madness!
If they are being tested once, then sit and learn without a mask, we can expect far more stories like this. The boys should keep the mask on during learning even if tested twice positive unless they are alone in the room. 2 meters distance is not enough when learning as the talking spreads the virus further. One corona test is not enough, You need two with a week between them. If the boys go out of the Yeshiva they need to be retested , twice. Daily temperature checks are also recommended as well as eating with more than a 2 meter distance. Lets save lives and keep the mitzvah of Nishmartem MeOd!
I find this article incredibly Anti semitic in a very under handed way. The goal of “the yeshiva world co” seems to be at every chance to undermine Israel, Jews who live there and the concept of Aliyah. It praises the exile Jew as a “Kiddush Hashem” when the opposite is true (See Yechezkiel HaNavi 36:20 and Radak on the pasuk. Here it implies that on the first day a yeshiva bachur arrived he was infected when the reality is he was with almost certainty infected in Chutz Laretz. This article implies they were infected here, the underhanded connection is Chutz Laretz is good, Israel is bad. Common common theme with ywn, just keep the theme in mind and you will see article after article. The Torah says 87 times to live in Israel and ywn seems to know better. Apparently apikorsis sells and they can collect ad revenue for selling anti Torah articles……Shame and those who know Torah deeply can pick up on this, those that don’t become haters of Israel……The spies and the Eruv Rav would be proud.
Mrs Ohevet, perhaps they should wear a hazmat suit or better yet, a scuba diving suit during seder. This way they could be mekayim the most important mitzvah of them all – venishmartem?
Or better yet, just call the whole yeshiva a demonstration and the virus understands on its own not to dare enter!
Shulchanaruchyid,
It’s an Israeli yeshiva consisting Israeli bochurim, not chuztnikim.
I think the article is praising the yeshiva on their meticulously following protocol.
Making light or mocking the situation after many families are left widowed / orphaned / without parnassa or help is truly sad.
Exaggerating and misrepresenting someone elses comments is akin to the Snake. Please be more careful.
News articles are not meant to praise or malign but to report objectively the news. Hopefully people will learn from it and we can have better outcomes.
