Interior Minister Aryeh Deri and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced on Wednesday that foreign students will be permitted to enter Israel despite the current ban on non-Israeli citizens, the Chaim V’Chessed organization reported.
“The announcement comes after weeks of intensive work by the recently formed Yeshiva & Seminary Coalition for Bnei Chul, headed by Rabbi Nechemya Malinowitz,” Chaim V’Chessed stated. “The Coalition is comprised of more than 100 institutions catering to foreign students, from across the spectrum of Orthodoxy, serving a total of 15,000 students.”
“The efforts received strong support from MK Rabbi Yitzchak Pindrus (UTJ). Pindrus, himself the son of American immigrants, has emerged as a strong advocate for the foreign community in Israel.”
The approval applies to all yeshivah, seminary, Ulpana, MASA, and high school students.
All educational institutions will be required to adhere to all Health Ministry regulations.
All students will have to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival in Israel in groups of up to six students. It should be noted that despite the fact that the Health Ministry shortened the quarantine period of coronavirus patients on Wednesday from 14 days to 10-13 days, this does not apply to travelers arriving from broad and in fact, does not even apply to anyone exposed to a coronavirus carrier. The shortened quarantine period applies only to coronavirus carriers themselves and those arriving from abroad or exposed to coronavirus carriers must quarantine for a full two weeks.
For specific details and guidelines, students should contact their yeshiva or seminary.

I know everyone want to take the credit to have solved the problems our boys and girls were having, but as I understand the situation in eretz Yisroel, it is far from good. We need to protect our students, as the Israeli’s need to protect themselves.
Where is the great need to push all the students to Eretz Yisroel at this time?
ezzy: There are only 400-something deaths in Israel from corona from the beginning of time. Hardly a condemnation of death. Plus, if in the USA they can play NBA, MLB, NHL, etc under certain restrictions and its considered a safe risk then why can’t we institute safety measures for limud torah and take a controlled risk, too?

I am not part of the FFB Lakewood culture. For me to date, I’m likely to be dating someone IN ISRAEL. So being able to go TO ISRAEL is a bigger deal for me.
Now, I could become a citzen, but I was told to make Aliyah the spiritual way BEFORE becoming a citzen (unless I get married before moving).
SO FOR SOME OF YOU, opening up might be bad news, but for me, it is good news.
Learn to see more than one side of the story.

If you would do your homework you will find that there are an abundance of top seminaries here in America. I do not want to name names, as I don’t want to disparage any seminary. There are at least 3 that are superior to BJJ right in our backyard. There are also a lot of monetary politics that are also problematic. There was an administrator/teacher here in one of Brooklyn’s most prestigious girl’s high school, that used to talk his girls out of going to Eretz Yisroel. He received a phone call from Eretz Yisroel warning him that he better be quite, or no seminary will accept his girls.
He told me that one day he will write an expose on the seminary, even if they physically threaten him!
Many decades ago, 2 girls went to the Steipler Gaon, ZT”L with a question on a Ramban. He listened to their question and replied, “Do you know how to make Potato Kugel”?
He received a phone call from Eretz Yisroel warning him that he better be quiet, or no seminary will accept his girls.
Calm down people first of all even if you think that people shouldn’t go to seminary in israel and its all a money making scam (and there really is an amount of validity to those claims although as with everything else they are not true in all cases and are not so black and white) also the yeshivos (even more so) are definitely not money making operations (possibly with rare exceptions although I have no knowledge of any) and really while there may be legitimate reasons to tell people to stay in america for seminary/yeshiva (I personally have never gone to Israel and as of yet have no plans to) it’s never good for people’s plans to fall apart at the last minute (or anywhere close to that) so there is definitely legitimate reasons that this is a necessity. And to the haters stop making all these accusations about kickbacks and everything , not everyone in the world is a totally selfish sociopath with sneaky hidden ulterior motives for everything. so chill. and if they are letting people go to yeshivos in israel then it is only logical that they work out a way for people to come in and quarantine or whatever.

Leaving the quality issue of US seminarys aside, they aren’t much cheaper. They charge approximately $16500. But that doesn’t include room and board for which they charge another 2300. They have no scholarships like MASA which can easily be 3800. They have no trips. Girls are not looking for 13th grade. They want – and again from – a full experience.

Because it’s an either/or thing? Maybe girls and women can do both-learn Rambam and make potato kugel! It’s extremely disrespectful to belittle their Torah learning like that. When 2 boys come to him with a question on Rashi does he ask them if they know how to change a tire?
