Officials in Yerushalayim’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center on Sunday reported an improvement in the condition of Rishon L’Tzion HaRav Mordechai [Tzemach ben Mazel] Eliyahu Shlita, who last week suffered a stroke. He has since undergone a surgical procedure on his head, performed by neurosurgeons in Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital. The Rav was then brought back to Shaare Zedek.
While doctors were pleased to relay good news, they explain the improvement is slight, adding the Rav is now breathing spontaneously and is no longer connected to a mechanical respirator. Nevertheless, his condition is listed serious.
During a visit to the hospital last week, the Rav’s condition deteriorated suddenly and he required resuscitation.
On Tuesday night his condition took a sharp turn for the worse, and on Wednesday afternoon, he suffered a stroke. He was transported to Hadassah for the surgical procedure and then back to Shaare Tzedek. Family and associates of the Rav request Jews around the world recite Tehillim on his behalf.

The signs I’ve seen, and the accurate websites like Arutz 7, give his mother’s name as Mazal Tov. There will be a special Tefilla at the Kosel on Wednesday afternoon at 5:30 pm, called for by his son, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu & Family.
a call to the rabbi’s office in jerusalem confirmed the rabbi’s name is Harav Mordechai Tzemach Ben Mazal Tov. a massive prayer rally at the kotel is being organized for this wednesday at 4:30 by the rav’s family. Harav Shmuel Eliahu shlita, rav of Tzfat and son of the Rishon L’zion has called on all Klall Yisrael to come to the kotel on wednesday.
