Pensioners Break Away May Not be Approved

According to the Knesset’s legal advisor, the three members of the Pensioners Party who recently broke away to join ranks with billionaire Arkadi Gaydamak may have broken the law.

Knesset legal expect Nurit Elstein explains that in the move, the three lawmakers may have broken the law by promising a slot in the next Knesset lineup to a candidate, a move that is prohibited, in addition a funding laws regarding gifts received from Arkadi Gaydamak.

As such, the matter may not be approved by the Knesset House Committee, which is expected to render a decision on Monday. Elstein in her opinion stated she does not see how members of the committee can overlook the actions of the three, calling to disqualify the split and subsequent formation of the new party with Gaydamak, explaining the MKs were seduced into making the move with lucrative gifts, including a new Mazda sedan for one of the three.

MK (Pensioners Party) Yitzchak Galantee called the move “political prostitution,” stating there is no way the Knesset House Committee can give its stamp of approval.

Pensioners Party MKs Moshe Sharoni, Elchanan Glazer and Sarah Marom Shalev broke away to join forces with Gaydamak, as was reported HERE on YWN.
