PA Demanding an Army

Senior Palestinian Authority official Ahmed Quriea (Abu Ala) reported took Foreign Minister Tzipi by surprise when he added another demand at the negotiating table, telling the foreign minister the PA needs to build an army to protect itself.

Livni questioned Abu Ala the Yediot Achronot daily reported, stating that according to all the agreements signed to date, the Palestinian state would be a demilitarized entity, but the senior PA officials now stated this is not the case and this is not acceptable.

According to the report, the new demand infuriated Livni, who has been working in earnest to reach an agreement with the PA, willing to make major land and other concessions to appease PA officials.

  1. That’s pretty incredible, because that was one of the basics principles all the way back to Oslo, that the PA was to have a police, but NOT an army.

I don’t know why Israel still has this charade going on – it’s very obvious that the PA Arabs have violated every agreement they signed, and since, after all that, Israel expelled its citizens from Gaza and offered Yerushalayim (they already have Har HaBayis), it’s quite clear that this “peace” train will keep on going regardless of Israeli losses and Arab violations, and has nothing to do with “both sides” fulfilling their commitments.
