Racheli Evenbaum, 28, identified as a chareidi woman, dropped off the Jerusalem Bayit Yehudi list in the upcoming municipal elections. Mrs. Evenbaum was number three on the list and she announced she is dropping out amid threats just days after confirming her candidacy.
Evenbaum, who according to Srugim lives in Meah Shearim, is the CEO of the Meir Panim – Koach L’Tet organization, serving the needy. When the announcement was publicized that she accepted the number three spot on the Bayit Yehudi list she received threats that her children would be ousted from their schools and she and her family would be placed in cherem.
Yediot Achronot’s Akiva Novik reported she came under threats over the weekend, bringing her to the realization it would be best to drop off the dati leumi list. Novik quotes her saying “they told me if I do not drop out they will oust the children from school; oust us from the shul and the kehilla.”
She adds that she is saddened by this reality for she was not looking for a political career, but she welcomed the opportunity to move her commitment to assist those in need to the municipal level. She is quoted adding it appears “one may be on the vaad bayis but not the vaad of the city”.

I don’t understand. If she is a frum woman whose children attend a frum yeshiva, why would anyone be opposed to her candidacy? Has she taken controversial positions on public policy issues or is this just the same old fear by the “establishment” of having a smart woman in public office raising questions about how things are being done?
I bet that any Jew who expressed sympathy for the National Socialists in 1933 had similar problems. Perhaps she doesn’t read the newspaper or use the internet, and is unaware the Bayit Yehudi is leading the war against the hareidi community.
ah yeah. aren’t the frum machers in meah shariim lovely to deal with, cherem on the whole family for daring to be different…
Her joining this party is little different than a Jew who joined the National Socialist Party.
#2 You meant to write Yesh Atid, I assume.
Wasn’t BY the party fighting for additional funding for yeshivos?
2&4 there is much that can be accomplished by city councils $wise, and I am afraid that representation for the Geula/MS will be reduced when she gives up her seat.
#5: Her party will fight the Torah world. That includes MS/Geula as well as all the other areas of the Torah world. Thank G-d she was forced to choose between the Torah community and this anti-Torah party.
#6. Even Erev Rosh HaShana you tell this outrageous LIE? If anything, the Dati community is Frummer than the maniacs in Meah Shearim.

“Her party will fight the Torah world.”
Hours before Rosh Hashanah and we have this motzi shem ra. Sigh.
