Rav Grossman Shlita Moves Slichos from Kosel Over Tznius Concerns

grossmMigdal HaEmek Chief Rabbi HaRav Dovid Grossman Shlita has decided on a new venue for his main slichos event for talmidim of his Ohr Yisrael program from the Kosel to Kever Rashbi in Meron due to tznius issues at the Kosel.

The rav holds the annual slichos event at the Kosel, but this year, he feels the compromised tznius standard at the holy site compels him to seek a new venue. The event will take place on Wednesday of the Aseres Yimei Teshuvah.

Rav Grossman’s staff is organizing the event with police and arrangements are being made to accommodate the thousands of expected participants.

  1. Hope it works out well.

Have been both to Kosel and Rashbi and the atmosphere, visitors, environment is the same. Not sure why the kosel doesn’t work as well.

  2. If “Women of the Wall” (the anti-Torah Reform/Conservative/Secular group fighting for control of the Kossel) were to start appearing in extremely immodest clothesl, could they manage to force hareidim away from the kossel?

  3. The residents of the Old City would like to thank R’ Druckman for reducing the gezel shena that results from these nightly events for at least one night and hope that R’ Ovadia will follow suit (on his night the Old City gets so packed that people are at risk of stampedes and other atrocities we know from Mekka).

We also participate in the pain of the citizens of Meiron who will now be subjected to this late night meshugas.
