Harav Chaim Kanievsky was asked by a Rosh Kollel who returned from abroad if he really had to isolate himself from his family members and Harav Chaim answered: “Maybe you really contracted [the coronavirus]?”
Harav Chaim’s bnei bayis explained that Harav Chaim’s message was that the Health Ministry’s rules should be followed due to the fact that the coronavirus poses a real health risk, Kikar H’Shabbos reported.
Harav Chaim refrained from attending the wedding of his great-granddaughter on Wednesday night, saying that it dangerous for him to go out due to the coronavirus. Harav Chaim danced with the chassan, the grandson of his daughter, Rebbetzin Leah Kolodetsky, in his home instead.
However, Harav Chaim has expressed that the risk of halting the Torah learning of children is more dangerous than the coronavirus and learning should be carried out in small groups. However, chadarim had no choice but to close due to the Health Ministry’s demands.

Chabad has a massive system set up (see Dansdeals) where kids of all ages can learn online.
Maybe emulate it?
Healing spelling error: Should be say “contacted” not contRacted. (ContRacted is about contracts.)
Um, great-grandson’s wedding, maybe?
If R’ Chaim’s learning and faith is not enough to protect him how can he tell anyone to expose themselves to this. R’ Yehoshua went out among the sick as he was holy enough, but he did not require anyone else to expose themselves.
If this is what R’ Chaim ruled, he is ruling you should be oiver the gravest sin in the Torah. Even a Navi has to prove himself to tell you to commit a sin, is R’ Chaim on that level. If yes he can overrule even a Taana, which would be crazy to suggest. You cannot listen to R’ Chaim here and anyone listening to him is equivalent to one who listens to a Navi Sheker (if you don’t first require him to pass the necessary tests). If you will tell me to be careful as this is R’ Chaim we are talking about, I would tell you in turn to be careful as you are violating the gravest sin in the Torah. Enough with the stupidity and ignorance. If he dares advise anyone they should expose themselves to this, he is obligated to show he is on the proper level to suggest that by first exposing himself to this. If he does not, he is a hypocrite and definitely a koifer b’ikkar. The teshuva he has to do for this and the teshuva those relying on his ruling will have to do, is terrible to contemplate.
KI HEIM CHAYENU!!! WAKE UP FOOLISH PEOPLE. IT IS CLEAR TO ME AS DAYLIGHT AND I AM PETRIFIED AT WHAT THOSE NOT BEING CAREFUL HERE ARE CAUSING. GOD IS SENDING YOU ALL A MESSAGE THROUGH IMPERFECT VESSELS SUCH AS ME. I AM MOT METICULOUS IN MY YIDDISHKEIT, I HAVE SINNED! YET HERE WE ARE DEALING WITH PIKUACH NEFESH AND YOU MUST LISTEN TO ME. IF YOU DON’T YOU WILL HAVE TO ATONE FOR THIS TERRIBLE SIN.
Joseph is wrong, surprise.
From “The Grammarist” (Google it)
“To contract a disease means to catch or acquire an illness through the exposure to a contagious pathogen. However, one may also contract a disease that is non-communicable such as cancer. Contract a disease is a verb phrase, related terms are contracts a disease, contracted a disease and contracting a disease. The word contract is derived from the Latin word contractus which means to draw together.
To contact a disease is an eggcorn, which is a misheard word or phrase that retains its original meaning. To contact a disease is not an accepted term. This eggcorn is probably a confabulation of the terms to come into contact with a disease and to contract a disease. ”
Ignorance is bliss, but it’s still ignorance.
@ mattisyahu- I WILL say it- be careful!!!!
mattisyahu,
Wow, you have some chutzpah!! You’re referring to THE Gadol Hador, one who is universally accepted as the Gadol Hador. How dare one open their mouth (or keyboard) like that? You’re words are more dangerous than any virus.
But on a side note; did you happen to read what R’ Chaim said before you went on your rant?
Shame again on you Ywn! Placing aii this apikursis on your site. And when someone is moche you are too cowardly to print it.
