The Special Operations Unit of the Search and Rescue Teams of Beit Shemesh and Gush Etzion extricated a young woman who was trapped after she was hiking inside one of the caves in Hirbat Borjin in Emek Ha’Elah.
The unit utilized specialized equipment for extracting people from underground caves and succeeded in rescuing the young woman who was then transferred to emergency medical service personnel for a full medical checkup. She was listed as being in light condition.
Commander Yossi Asraf of the Beit Shemesh Search and Rescue Unit said: “We arrived at the scene of a very complicated extraction involving a woman who was trapped inside a very narrow cave. She was unable to move forward or backward. Firefighters together with members of the Search and Rescue Unit worked together to extricate her while one of the Search and Rescue volunteers entered the cave and made his way to her to keep her calm and make sure that her medical condition was stable.”
