The traditional large Chanukah menorah was set into place at the Kosel on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
The menorah is made entirely of bronze cast, standing over two meters high and about two meters wide. It’s weight according to officials at the Kosel Heritage Foundation is about a ton, and the manufacturing process took seven months.
During Chanukah, there will be daily candle lighting ceremonies at the Kosel, with a different public figure lighting daily. The daily lighting will be at 4:30PM, with the exception of erev Shabbos, when lighting will be at 3:40PM. Lighting on motzei Shabbos will be at 7:00PM.
The lighting may be viewed live on each day via the Kosel Heritage Foundation Facebook page and website. The foundation will also conduct daily tours during Chanukah week.
