Heavy sandstorms began in Israel during midday on Thursday, December 12, 2019. In some areas and instances, the sandstorms were captured on video.
The sandstorms do not make for an easy life for IDF soldiers.

In Gaza border communities, power outages were reported in large areas in the Eshkol Regional Council. Israel Electric Company technicians were reportedly addressing the outages.

As the sandstorms increase in intensity in S. Israel, the rainclouds can be seen moving into position over southern and central Israel as rainfall resumes, accompanied by wind gusts of 100KPH (60 MPH).

In yet another storm-related report; A pedestrian suffered a head injury as well as injuries to his upper body and limbs after a cladding stone was torn off the roof of a building and landed on the young man.
The stone fell some seven stories on Martin Buber Street in Ashdod before hitting the man and injuring him.
United Hatzalah EMT Yaakov Mazoz, who was one of the first responders at the scene said: “According to witnesses, the man was sitting at the entrance to a restaurant when he was hit by the cladding stone and injured. The stone landed on his head. It was ripped off of the building by the strong winds and weather. I treated the man at the scene for his injuries. He was later transported to Assuta Hospital for further treatment and care.”
