The Shas party in Beit Shemesh is expected to enter the coalition after reaching agreement with Mayor Aliza Bloch.
Negotiations have been ongoing between Shas and Beit Shemesh City Hall during recent months. The sides have finally reached agreement.
The Shas representative in the talks was party director-general, Chaim Biton, who met directly with the mayor. There have been ups and downs in the coalition since its formation and adding to Shas’ worries was the fact that Degel Hatorah entered the coalition alone, without Shas. Shas leader Minister Aryeh Deri called that move “a knife in the back” by Degel.
Biton on Monday updated the party’s local officials on the agreement reached with Mayor Bloch.
