“Quicky, Quickly!” Hagaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky’s Unique Bracha Is Fulfilled Two Weeks Later

Two weeks ago, two yeshiva bochurim from Yeshivas Orchos HaTorah, together with their mashgiach, HaRav Chizkiyahu Mishkovsky, went to the home of Hagoan HaRav Chaim Kanievsky to request a bracha for a shidduch.

When they spoke with the Gadol Hador, Rav Kaniesvsky deviated from his usual minhag of granting a bracha in the briefest way [by saying “Boo-ah” in short for Brocha V’hatzlacha”] possible so as not to take time from his learning or the other people waiting. Instead, he took time to listen at length to the distress of the bachurim, who apparently had been looking for shidduchim for a long time without success.

To their surprise, Rav Kanievsky blessed them both with the same bracha, saying “Meheira, meheira” (quickly, quickly). The bochurim left with shining faces, very happy with the rare bracha they received.

Exactly two weeks after receiving the bracha, both bochurim got engaged this past Thursday night. The two bochurim said that the suggestion for their shidduchim came hours after their visit to Rav Kanievsky.

  1. if you are lucky enough to FEEL that its the right one than you dont need 2 weeks , many intelligent people who were zoche can tall you that they felt ” this is the one & were basicly ready after the 3 date or sooner.
this doesnt mean that logic and sechel have to be the primary factors but in a shiduch ” CHEIN ” is a big brocho

  2. Haimy, move to E”Y, raise your family in the Litvishe yeshivish velt and then comment if 2 weeks is too soon. You apparently are ignorant of how shidduchim work in the above tzibbur. Five dates is probably average, usually three dates a week. Do the math. They rely mostly on their parent’s careful checking and the dates are to check if they communicate on the same wavelength, metzias chein etc. There are some zerizim who do it in 3 dates – one week from start to finish! I don’t think that they end up less happy or end up in divorce any more than those who date way longer.

  3. That just means that these two bochurim decided to marry the first two girls that came their way. They “fulfilled the bracha” by just doing what he said, even if the girls were wrong for them.
