Avner Netanyahu Visits Mir Yerushalayim, Following Haircut In Bais Yisroel

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s son, Avner Netanyahu, got a haircut at the barber next to the Mir – Barber Tzion – who has a good reputation and is known as the barber for Mir bochurim, and then in a surprise visit, toured the Mir, Kikar Shabbos reported.

Avner arrived at the barber at 9:30 a.m on Wednesday. after his security guards scanned the area to ensure his safety.

While in the area, Avner requested a tour of the Mir. Tzion, who has a chavrusah in the Mir when he’s not cutting hair, took Avner to the beis midrash “Hamerkazi.” Avner asked to stop at his car to get his tefillin. He put on his tefillin and continued his tour in the Beis Yeshaya beis midrash where American bochurim learn.

Tzion told Kikar Shabat that “it was exciting to see his interest in the Chareidi community. I had the zechus to show him the beautiful parts of the Chareidi community up close.”

  1. The big deal will be when Harav Hagaon “Joseph” visits .

And if “147” ( is that how many mitzvahs of the 613 your going with ? ) comes w/ him we’ll have to make a special brocho

  2. many years ago I took a non religious man to see Ponavich. We climbed up to the ladies section and when he looked over on the yeshiva, he gasped and stepped back unbelieving the totality of yeshiva learning. It did inspire him.

  3. If a chiloni kid comes for a visit, it’s a big deal. Let more come to the Mir, who knows what affect it will have? Also, politically, Bibi is under pressure to throw the Chariedim under the bus. any feeling towards Yiddishkeit he may have is important to us.

  4. Joseph,

Please give credit where it’s due.
First of all, he came in respectfully for no selfish reason, no political pandering, no press release by a publicist.

Next, he put on Tefillin. How many chilonim own Tefillin? How many take them with them and wear them?

Finally, he wanted to see more of the Charaidi way of life. Many Chilonim want nothing to do with Charaidim.

I think that he could already be getting ON the Derech. Of all the barbershops, he chose the one next to the Mir. He knew where he was going.

  5. To MDG (and to Allan)

I don’t see what’s wrong with what joe said you guys actually made it worse

“Next, he put on Tefillin. How many chilonim own Tefillin? How many take them with them and wear them?“

So we see he owns tefillin, if a regular chiloni put on tefillin it would be a bigger chiddush because he doesn’t own one

He’s just asking why is this newsworthy? Because he’s bibi’s son? Big deal!

  6. Apparently, Thanksgiving is not only an aveirah in the litvish velt, it’s also a free pass to push away yidden who are drawn to the fire.

  7. “He’s just asking why is this newsworthy? Because he’s bibi’s son? Big deal!”

Yes it is a big deal.
He has more influence in Israeli society, maybe only because of his name. His visit can cause others to get on the Derech.
Besides which, one should be happy that he (or any Chiloni) is doing more Mitzvot.
