After Attorney General Dr. Avichai Mandelblit last week announced he plans to file a number of criminal indictments against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. Charges against the Prime Minister will include fraud, bribery and breach of trust. Deputy Health Minister Yaakov Litzman was quick to secure approval from the Moetzas Gedolei Torah of Agudas Yisrael to serve as Health Minister instead of Deputy Health Minister with ministerial authority.

Amid a fear that PM Netanyahu will be compelled to step down from his post when he is actually indicted, Litzman will become Health Minister instead of Deputy Health Minister. The admorim serving on the Agudas Yisrael Moetzas Gedolei Torah approved the move on motzei Shabbos, reportedly polled by phone. PM Netanyahu currently serves as Health Minister as well.

Litzman already served as minister in the 21st Knesset after receiving permission from the Gerre Rebbe Shlita, but he resigned over what he called was growing public Chilul Shabbos, agreeing to return to serving as Deputy Health Minister.
