This past Shabbos, for a first time, limited minibus service operated in a number of Gush Dan cities, with organizers hailing the initiative a great success. In fact, they are thinking of adding additional buses due to the overwhelming success of the new project.
The minibus that left from Ramat Gan to the center of Tel Aviv at 9:30PM on Friday night did not make it to all the stops before it was full to capacity. This led organizers to announce they are contemplating an expanded service to meet the demand.
The initiative involves six lines and 500 stops from Ramat HaSharon and Ramat Aviv in the north, via Givatayim, Kiryat Ono and Yaffo in the south. It is reported that in all cases, the 19-seat minibuses were full to capacity, without exception. It has already been decided that on some of the lines, there will be three minibuses and hour instead of two.
Chief Ashkenazi HaGaon HaRav Dovid Lau Shlita commented, “They have forgotten that the Declaration of Independence states the State of Israel is a Jewish State, as each person shall do as s/he wishes in one’s own home because it is a democratic state, but in public, we much emphasize we are a country to which Jews of all generations aspired, a Jewish nation.”
