Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar on Monday threatened to relentlessly attack Tel Aviv, turning Israeli cities into “ghost towns” if Israel dares to attack Gaza.
Sinwar continued his threat by warning that “Hamas has enough missiles to launch rockets into Tel Aviv and cause red alert alarms for six months straight.”
Sinwar’s remarks were prompted by Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz’s statements following a barrage of at least 10 rockets from the Gaza Strip on Israel’s south on Friday night, in which a home in Sderot suffered a direct hit.
Gantz, a former IDF commander and chief of staff, said that if he becomes prime minister he won’t allow Israeli citizens of the south to be threatened by Hams and will restore deterrence “at any cost” including returning to targeted assassinations of terror leaders in Gaza.
“We’re waiting for you – if you succeed in forming a government – to see what you can do,” Sinwar mockingly responded to Gantz in a reference to Israel’s current lack of a coalition. “We’ll make you regret the day you were born.”
The Hamas leader also warned Israel to refrain from initiating a military ground operation in Gaza, saying that they have “a huge military force in the Gaza Strip and hundreds of miles of tunnels” in Gaza waiting to entrap Israeli soldiers.
Sinwar expressed his gratitude to Iran for supporting Hamas, vowing that “it has a place of honor by G-d for supporting and increasing our power. If it wasn’t for Iran’s funding, weapons and expertise to the resistance in Gaza and Palestine, we wouldn’t have achieved what we are today.”
