Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu announced agreement has been reached with Jordan by which Israel will release two Jordanian nationals imprisoned in Israel. “The State of Israel views relations with Jordan a cornerstone of a stable Middle East”, Mr. Netanyahu stated.
Israel hopes this brings an end to the latest diplomatic crisis between Jerusalem and Jordan, as Jordan recently recalled its ambassador from Tel Aviv over the matter of the imprisoned Jordanians. YWN-Israel recently reported Jordan demanded the release of Hiba Labadi and Abdul Rahman Miri, who have been held by Israel for a number of months. Labadi began a hunger strike and she was hospitalized due to her deteriorating health. She was arrested in August 2019 as she crossed into the territories in the hope of attending the wedding of a relative.
ISA (Israel Security Agency/Shin Bet) Director Nadav Argaman has contacted his Jordanian counterpart regarding security arrangements for the release of the two.
