The IDF targeted and identified hitting two posts of the Hamas terrorist organization in the southern Gaza Strip. The attacks were carried out following the continuous launching of rockets and mortar shells at Israeli communities in the western Negev. Yesterday’s deadly attack at Kfar Aza kibbutz took the life of a 48 year old civilian. This is the first death caused by mortar fire since the disengagement in 2005; raising the death toll to more than a dozen Israelis killed by the daily projectile fire. One man was moderately wounded and two additional were lightly wounded in the attack.

Palestinians fired more than 1950 rockets and mortar shells at Israeli communities and IDF soldiers in the past four months.

The IDF will continue to target the Hamas terrorist organization as long as it continues to fire rockets and mortars at Israeli communities.
