Israel Police insists on performing an autopsy on a boy born on erev Shabbos to a chareidi woman from Elad. Tragically, the baby was born stillborn and for reasons that are known only to police, they are insisting on an autopsy.

Police on Monday submitted a request to the Petach Tikvah Magistrate’s Court for an autopsy on the child.

After the birth, ZAKA succeeded in preventing an autopsy, as its legal department representative persuaded the court there is no reason for the postmortem, asking to have the body cleared for kvura. However, police have asked to delay carrying out the court’s decision, and the court has given police until 1:00PM Monday to appeal or backdown.
