With the political community locked as efforts continue to establish a coalition government, MK (New Right) Naftali Bennet, once again spoke out, warning against going to a third round of elections. He warns that in a third round of elections, “the right-wing will crash in historic dimensions due to the escalation [of rocket fire] in the south. The in-depth treatment of Gaza must be serious work.”
Bennet made his statements regarding reports that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is weighing appointing Bennet to the post of Defense Minister. Bennet on Sunday morning told Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) that regarding the escalation of rocket fire in the south over Shabbos, he warns against going to a third round of elections, citing doing so will result in a devastating defeat for the right-wing.
On motzei Shabbos, Bennet broke his silence, having refrained from speaking to the media since the last election on September 17, 2019, speaking with News12 correspondent Rina Matzliach, at which time he explained “no government will be established in the next two weeks”, referring to the fact that MK Benny Gantz on Sunday has 18 days remaining of his mandate to form a coalition government.
“The State of Israel is heading to elections” added Bennet, warning of the consequences for the right-wing, adding, “I would not be surprised if Iran was encouraging the [terrorist] organizations towards creating a chokehold. They have a national mission of attacking the State of Israel with hundreds of thousands of accurate rockets to choke it. The matter of the US withdrawal [from Syria] encouraged the Iranians. We are in a state of national emergency.”
Regarding Netanyahu’s willingness to appoint Bennet to the defense post, he added, “I read this on motzei Shabbos. I am unaware of such an offer,” adding if asked, he would consider it. He added this was marginal and the main issue today was the formation of a government, telling the media that he released the prime minister from all obligations regarding the right-wing bloc, stating “If I am the stumbling block to creating a government” he is now free of this.

I’m sick of the elections, but that doesn’t mean that all of a sudden I’m going to vote for Meretz. In fact, in the last elections, I switched from Likud to Otzmah Yehudit.
