MK Moshe Gafne, who chairs the Knesset Finance Committee, is threatening the state budget will not be approved until such time the matter of funding for chareidi special education institutions is arranged. He vows to “fight with all my might”.
The Knesset Finance Committee convened on Tuesday morning, headed by MK Gafne, addressing numerous requests from chareidi parents regarding the need to arrange a proper budget for special education in the chareidi sector. At the start of the session, Gafne announced he would prevent the state budget from being approved until such time the special ed funding is approved, vowing to fight with all his might until this occurs.
It is pointed out that the committee has not allocated funding to numerous government ministries, as Gafne has decided to use his powerful position to bring about a change, an allocation of funding for chareidi special education.
A number of parents of special ed children in the chareidi community were invited to participate in the committee session, and when given the opportunity to address the committee, they pointed out the suffering they and their children endure as a result of the lack of funding.
