Dozens of bnei torah serving in the IDF, backed by their rabbonim, are protesting the fact that Tzohar Rabbonim was given the contract to oversee the kashrus in vacation villages used by the IDF, telling the IDF Rabbinate that they will not be eating in these vacation venues as they do not rely on the kashrus supervision of Tzohar.
The protest involves dozens of hesder talmidim, who are protesting the fact the tender to provide kashrus supervision for vacation venues rented by the IDF. In the letter sent to the IDF Chief Rabbi, Brigadier-General Eyal Karim, the soldiers explain they have no intention of eating from the kitchens supervised by Tzohar. The protest is backed by two of the leading poskim in the dati leumi community, HaGaon HaRav Yaakov Ariel Shlita and HaGaon HaRav Elyakim Levanon Shlita. The letter was signed by the dozens of soldiers backing the protest move.
The soldiers in question are talmidim in Mitzpei Ramon, Nir, Eilat, Elon Moreh, Beit El, Ohr Etzion, Maale Eliyahu, Tzefas, Givat Olga and Mitzpei Yericho.
For the talmidim/soldiers it is simple, as numerous prominent dati leumi poskim and rabbonim have announced the Tzohar kashrus is not to be relied upon.
