The Ministry of Transportation and Israel Railways have completed another milestone in the forging project after the completion of the electrical infrastructure of the express train system in Lod.
On Tuesday morning, the first electric train left the Lod Electric Operational Complex for service on the express line to Jerusalem. The completion of the Lod electrical infrastructure in Lod comes alongside the completion of the infrastructure between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv station, which Israel Railways announced was completed during the summer months.
Officials report this is a significant milestone towards the operation of the service between Tel Aviv and Jerusalem which is expected to occur by year’s end.
It is also reported that in recent days, Israel Railways has received a power train and an electric propulsion driver, which will soon enter service on the express line.
The new train, along with six new two-story cars will permit improved operational flexibility on the line to Jerusalem ahead of its operation to Tel Aviv at the end of 2019.
