Bnei Brak Mayor Avraham Rubinstein was the subject of a KAN11 News report on Monday evening, reporting millions of shekels have gone “missing” and no one has an explanation as to where the money has gone.
Rubinstein on Sunday evening attended the Bnei Brak Prize for Torah Culture event, using the forum to respond to the accusing KAN11 TV News report. “Baruch Hashem the tzibur does not need the news but the mainstream news tries to besmirch the city’s name,” stated Mayor Rubinstein in his opening remarks.
“Morai V’Rabosai, Baruch Hashem the city has been established – the city is run and before more than 20 years, an inquiry committee was brought, and we resigned from the committee. For over 21 years we are running the city ourselves, just like Maran Rosh Yeshiva, successful mayors, maintaining a balanced budget, and I am telling you this at this forum that 45 minutes ago, the mainstream media attacked our city out of jealousy and hate.”
Mayor Rubinstein showered the city’s administration with praise, citing the city has 7000 dunams (1750 acres) of land and is home to 208,000 residents and schools. “Each child has a seat, table, a roof above him and a blackboard. Where else is there such a city in the world – not in Eretz Yisrael. Baruch Hashem, they are all Torah Yidden, and throughout the years, they all ran the city with emunah and integrity.”
Rubinstein added in his response to the media report on KAN11, “Except for jealousy and hate, there is no reason for the attack and incitement.”
