IDF soldier Eli Ashkenazi was last seen on Sunday when he left his home on Sokolov Street, dressed in his IDF uniform. He is described as being “muscular and 1.89 meters tall, brown hair and brown eyes”. In his hometown of Kfar Sava, residents have been called upon to assist in the search. Anyone with any information is urged to contact police.
Police have called on the public to assist, releasing the description and photo of the soldier, Eliezer (Eli) Ashkenazi, a 20-year-old soldier in his mandatory service, who disappeared after leaving his home in Kfar Sava on Sunday morning. According to relatives, he was seen near his home in the city dressed in his uniform.
Military police have taken a lead role in the case, with Kfar Sava City Hall turning to residents to assist in finding Eli, who left with his weapon and a small bag. He was supposed to arrive in the Golan Heights, but he seems to have vanished. Member of the Israel Dog Unit have also joined in the search, led by Yekutiel Ben-Yaakov, with the canines working during the night to assist in the search.
Police are calling on anyone with information to call Kfar Sava police at 09-747-3555. A command center has been set up by the city at 2 Sheshet HaYomim Street. Persons wishing to assist in the search are instructed to wear closed shoes and to bring a flashlight.
The search continued throughout the night involving IDF soldiers and volunteers. The IDF Spokesman’s Office reports that Eliezer Ashkenazi, 20, from Kfar Sava, left his home during the early morning hours on Sunday, on Sokolov Street, wearing his uniform. He then vanished.
