Predawn Thunder Showers in Yerushalayim – More Rain Expected [VIDEOS]


Many Jerusalemites awakened during the predawn hours on Wednesday shortly after 4:00AM to the sound of thunder, which was accompanied by strong lightning and followed shortly thereafter by heavy showers, albeit for only a short period. The winter seems to be underway in Eretz Yisrael.

The rainfall during the night is expected to continue in most areas of Israel on Wednesday, with significant thundershowers expected along with a drop in temperatures.

Significant showers are expected, accompanied by strong wind gusts. Flood warnings are in affect in the south and east as well as some coastal areas, Israel’s Meteorological Service is reporting. On Wednesday night, skies will remain partly cloudy with some rain expected, accompanied by periodic thunderstorms, primarily in northern and coastal Israel.

Temperatures for Wednesday day/night:

Jerusalem 23-15C (73.5-59F), Tel Aviv 27-19 (80.5-62.5), Kiryat Shmona 27-19 (80.5-62.5), Tzefas 23-15 (73-59), Tiveria 31-20 (88-68), Haifa 27-19 (80.5-62.5), and Be’er Sheva 26-16 (79-61).

Thursday is expected to continue with partly cloudy skies and rain continuing in the northern and coastal areas accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.

Partly cloudy skies to continue on Friday with local showers and isolated thunderstorms during the morning hours, primarily in the coastal areas. During the afternoon hours, in the northern and mountainous regions, local showers are expected, once again, accompanied by isolated thundershowers.

Rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms are expected on Shabbos from northern Israel to the northern Negev, with flood warnings in effect. The rainfall is expected to wane in intensity during the afternoon hours.
