Three years after he was appointed to the position of being the CEO of the city council of Elad, Ze’ev Kashash has announced that he will be stepping down from the position due to the uncertain political situation in the city that has been caused by the recent elections.
As a result of the recent elections, a rift was created in the city leadership between the Degel HaTorah party and Mayor Yisrael Porush. Kashash who holds a position of trust and believes that he has been unable to fulfill his duties due to the political divide between the party leadership and the Mayor, has decided to step down.
On Thursday, Kashash went to visit Rav Chaim Kanievsky to seek his permission to step down from his position. He is expected to submit his formal resignation next week.
According to sources within the city leadership, the position of CEO of the city is expected to pass to City Council Member Shai Natan. It is unclear how this will transpire from a practical standpoint, as there is a mandatory break that is required for any council member to take between the time that they serve as a council member and taking up a paid position such as the CEO of the city.
Surces within the Degel HaTorah party were furious at the situation and claimed that Porush forced Kashash to submit his resignation. “This is something that it unfathomable. To leave a man without a parnasa and to fire a terrific CEO just for political gain. It is not something that is acceptable in our community. ”
