A Sefer Torah R”L fell to the ground during hagba’a on Tzom Gedalya in a Kiryat Ata shul.
The unfortunate incident took place in the Kiryat Ata Great Shul on Wednesday, Tzom Gedalya during one of the shachris minyanim. One of the mispallalim received hagba’a but it appears the Sefer was too heavy for him and it fell to the ground.
According to BeChadrei Chareidim, the man lifted the Sefer Torah and as it was being rolled together, he lost his grip on one of the Eitz Chaim and the Sefer R”L fell to the ground.
The mispallalim were horrified and the gabbai, Elkana Weisenstern, told BeChadrei Chareidim the kehillah’s rav, Rabbi Lifshitz, instructed them to accept an additional fast day upon themselves and to be mechazek regarding Halachos pertaining to the one’s actions in a shul.
The rav also plans to host an Asifa on the subject as well.
