Joint Arab List to Boycott Knesset Swearing-In Ceremony

Due to the ongoing political crisis following the election for 22nd Knesset, the Joint Arab List members announced they would be boycotting Thursday’s festive swearing-in ceremony in the plenum.

MK Dr. Ahmed Tibi tweeted “Tomorrow, 13 MKs of the Joint Arab List will not participate in the Knesset ceremony for the swearing-in as part of our general protest declared by the [Arab] Monitoring Committee which follows the murders in Arab communities and the light-handed attitude of police. It is the wild west and weapons are too commonplace”.

MK Ofer Kasif added “Since 1971, Arabs are murdered as a result of the neglected infrastructure and lawlessness in enforcement. In the Arab communities, people are afraid to leave their homes for fear of violence against them or stray bullets. We require an emergency plan to eradicate crime and violence, which will give personal security to every woman, man and child”.
